PAYING TRIBUTE TO OUR LOSS
|
The grieving period following a significant loss is typically marked by a number of emotions (ie anger, shock, depression, denial, and stress). These types of emotions are not healthy and can lead to harmful physical symptoms. However, if we view our loss differently it may help us control our emotions and actually aid us during the grieving period. Celebrating the life of a departed loved one is a good way to begin the healing process. The Electric Memorial Candle was created to help the bereaved view the passing of a loved one differently. It pays tribute to the beloved one with an Electric Eternal Flame Candle™ (more on that in a moment), a photo frame that allows you to regularly change photos that marked special events and occasions (birthdays, anniversaries) that took place in our beloved one’s life. It also features a name plate which can be engraved with a short message that describes our beloved one’s life, a favorite nickname, an honorable date, or even a favorite song. Any description that makes us smile is encouraged. Placed on both sides of the name plate is a pair of peaceful white lilies in high gloss vases letting the viewer know that our loved one has passed on and at rest. The Electric Memorial Candle encourages healthy conversation by giving family and friends an opportunity to share their feelings of happier moments which sooths the heart. The Electric Eternal Flame Candle™ An eternal flame is a flame that burns day and night for an indefinite period. An electric eternal flame candle is a candle which uses a long-lasting flickering flame bulb which resembles a live flame that burns day and night for an indefinite period. The Electric Memorial Candle adopts the eternal flame’s theory into its concept renaming its candle an electric eternal flame candle™. Unlike modern battery operated or flameless candles which only glow with different levels of brightness, the Electric Memorial Candle uses a flickering flame like bulb because it resembles the look and feel of a live open flame. For thousands of years, candles have been used at funerals to symbolize the everlasting spirit of a loved one who has passed away. Candles are symbolic of life in that the dancing movements of the flames shows the vibrancy of the soul which is now free and happy, on longer tied to our mortal fragile bodies. First Eternal Flame Tribute given to Mankind The eternal flame commemorating U.S. President John F. Kennedy following his assassination in 1963 was the first time that an individual known person was given such an honor. This honor is now available to all how wishes to bring such an honor to the privacy of their homes. Henceforward, eternal flames would be designated more frequently around the world to honor the loss of persons of great significance like our brave U.S. soldiers, in addition to major tragic and momentous events such as the terrorist’s attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001 (911). An eternal flame can now be placed in any designated location where a memorial has been setup as a lasting tribute to honor the life of your beloved one. For thousands of years candles have been used at funerals to symbolize the everlasting spirit. During some memorial services candles are lit and afterwards given to the families to take home where they continue to give comfort. Live candles pose a fire danger. At this point the Electric Memorial Candle stands in place of the live candles. Fire Safety and Candles There's a special beauty and tranquility to candles, but a lighted candle is also an open flame, and a potential fire hazard if not carefully monitored. In fact, accidental candle fires account for approximately four percent of all U.S. residential fires. A study by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission suggests that 85 percent of candle fires could be avoided if consumers followed three basic safety rules:
The National Candle Association urges consumers to always follow the basic rules of fire safety when burning candles. Another concern one might have with candles is the black soot and fumes that some candles emit. This residue can blacken your ceiling, curtains, blinds, and don’t forget your walls. Inhaling this residue is another issue. Why white lilies? A pair of white lilies in high gloss white vases sits atop the Electric Memorial Candle because it is the flower most commonly associated with funeral and memorial services. It is the first flower that comes to mind in most people. Lilies are often interpreted as a symbol of the innocence that has been restored to the soul of the departed. |
